Nicholas Alexander Brown, whose conducting is considered "dexterous and confident...[with] subtle, seamless baton strokes," is the music director and founder of The Irving Fine Society Singers & Ensemble, and Boston Unhinged Chamber Players. He is Assistant Conductor of the Brandeis-Wellesley Orchestra, Brandeis University Chorus & Chamber Choir, and a conductor with Boston Opera Collaborative.

Nicholas has conducted ensembles such as the 215h Army Band, Valley Forge Military Academy & College Regimental Band and Regimental Choir, New England Conservatory Youth Repertory Orchestra, as well as the Norwalk Symphony and Montgomery College Symphony in workshops and reading sessions. He has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Boston's Symphony Hall and Jordan Hall, Philadelphia's Kimmel Center, and Mirabell Palace in Salzburg, Austria. His conducting teachers and mentors include Jeffrey Rink, Stephen Czarkowski, Neal Hampton, and James Olesen.

As a French horn player, Nicholas is a member of the 215th Army Band, stationed in Fall River, MA. He performs with the Commonwealth Brass Quintet from the 215th Army Band, as well as the Brandeis-Wellesley Orchestra. He has performed with the Philadelphia Sinfonia, Wellesley Symphony Orchestra, Brandeis Wind Ensemble, and the Valley Forge Military Academy & College Regimental Band.

Nicholas is also a Baritone vocalist, currently a member of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus under the direction of John Oliver, having performed under Sir Colin Davis, James Levine, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos, Sir Andrew Davis, and Keith Lockhart. He also sings in the Brandeis University Chorus & Chamber Choir, and the 215th Army Band's Voices of Freedom. He currently studies voice with Pamela Wolfe.

In music management, Nicholas is a public relations intern with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, as well as the concert coordinator assistant, ensemble manager and tour manager for the Brandeis University Department of Music. Nicholas was the music librarian and administrative non-commissioned officer for the Valley Forge Military Academy & College Department of Music.

Nicholas is a member of the Conductor's Guild, serving on the 2009 Annual Conference Planning Committee, the American Choral Director's Association, and Chorus America.
